Outbound Email System for Microfluidics Flow Control Products

A niche B2B scientific audience required a different acquisition strategy than traditional paid media. This project validated outbound email as a scalable, repeatable channel.

Situation

The company needed qualified leads in a specialized scientific market targeting PhD researchers and postdocs working in microfluidics across universities and R&D labs globally. Paid advertising delivered limited results due to niche targeting and long buying cycles.

Task

Design and execute a cold outbound email strategy capable of reaching a highly technical audience, testing both established and emerging market segments, and generating qualified leads more efficiently than paid ads.

Action

I sourced verified scientific contacts using research databases, segmented by research focus and geography, and built tailored email campaigns in Mailchimp. Through A/B testing subject lines, tone, structure, and timing, I optimized engagement. Interested contacts were automatically pushed into Pipedrive CRM for structured follow-up.

Results

The system generated an average of 5 qualified leads per week, outperforming paid campaigns in lead quality and cost efficiency. Continuous optimization improved open rates by 30% and reply rates by 15%, validating outbound email as a scalable acquisition channel in a technical B2B environment.
